Insert or remove page numbers
Choose the scenario that most closely matches what you want to do:. You don't want a page number to appear on your title page, but you want the second page to show "Page 2. Select the page number to highlight it and press Delete. Select Options on the right side, and then select Different First Page. Select Options again, and then select Remove Page Numbers. Page numbering is inextricably intertwined with Headers and Footers, which are a component of Sections. You may not have used any commands for headers or footers; you may not have intended to use headers or footers; but, if you use the command to insert page numbers at any location other than "current position" you insert a header or footer.
When the command to remove page numbers leaves one or more page numbers, you can remove page numbers in Print Layout by double-clicking in the header footer where the page number appears and deleting it. You may have to do this several times. A page number may be in a header or in a footer.
Each section of a document will have three different headers and footers although not all of them may be active. These may or may not be linked to previous headers and footers of the same kind. A single page can have multiple sections, in which case you will not see many of the headers and footers that may be coded in the sections of that page.
I cant remove and correct it. Use section breaks instead of page breaks. However, make sure to unlink the sections to be able to assign page numbers to them separately. To unlink separate sections, activate the footer or header by double-clicking it, in the Navigation group, deselect the Link to Previous button. Now applying page numbers will not affect the entire document but only the desired section.
